Last night as I was trying to sleep, I had a feeling I should check my email. And boy, what an email. Here’s the list of talent I’ll be interviewing next week as part of the CARS 3 Event in Anaheim.
First we’ll start with and interview with CARS 3 Director Brian Fee and Producer Kevin Reher. The talent line up is incredible! Owen Wilson (voice of “Lightning McQueen”), Kerry Washington (voice of “Natalie Certain”), Cristela Alonzo (voice of “Cruz Ramirez”), Armie Hammer (voice of “Jackson Storm”), Nathan Fillion (voice of “Sterling”), Larry the Cable Guy (voice of “Mater”), Lea Delaria (voice of “Miss Fritter”), and Isiah Whitlock Jr. (voice of “River Scott”). Whew!
We will also have a few moments to watch a presentation on the LOU short film and presentation with Director Dave Mullins and Producer Dana Murray.
The one that makes me feel like a fan-girl is Nathan Fillion. Seriously, Nathan Fillion! You know, of Firefly, Serenity, CASTLE, Con Man, Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, and let us not forget the Caleb character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That Nathan Fillion. Did you know he also voiced Johnny in Monsters University? And of course, has voiced characters quite a few times on Robot Chicken. He is now the voice of Sterling, who runs the Rust-eze Racing Center. But there’s more. Okay, I’m a bit fanatical, but really, there are more interviews.
One of the most iconic voices in Disney-Pixar history is this one right here. Mater is such an incredibly naive and loveable character. Believe me, we’ve watched enough CARS movies in my house that we adore Mater. Voiced by Larry the Cable Guy Mater is the sweet, sometimes weird sidekick to Lightning McQueen.
Miss Fritter is voiced by Orange is the New Black actress Lea DeLaria and is new to the CARS franchise. From the clip that I watched at the Road to the Races Tour, I can tell you that her character is tough as nails and a little crazy. I can’t wait to see what she has in store.
The River Scott character is voiced by veteran actor Isiah Whitlock, Jr. His credits include Law & Order, The Wire, Law & Order: SVU and many more.
The beautiful and talented Kerry Washington voices another newcomer to the CARS franchise – Natalie Certain. Natalie Certain is a Racing Sports Network reporter. Most will recognize Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope on ABC’s SCANDAL.
Another newcomer to the CARS franchise is Cristela Alonzo, the voice of Cruz Ramirez. She’s the one who is tasked with getting Lightning McQueen back to racing and I’m looking forward to her story. Cristela is a writer, producer, and was co-host on The View.
Meet Jackson Storm as voiced by Armie Hammer. Sleek and stylish he is the younger, faster car on the race track. His movies include The Lone Ranger and The Social Network. He has voiced many video games, and has appeared on Entourage, Gossip Girl, and Desperate Housewives.
And last but not least is the one and only Lightning McQueen as voiced by Owen Wilson. He’s always the star of the show and his best friend is Mater. Owen Wilson is also known for movies such as Wedding Crashers, Meet the Fockers, and Zoolander among others.
