Summer of Heroes Descends on Disney California Adventure Park #Disneyland #SummerofHeroes

Disneyland’s “Summer of Heroes”

The Summer of Heroes descended on Disney California Adventure Park in a huge way! Starting with Guardians of the Galaxy: MISSION BREAKOUT! which by the way I was too chicken to ride. But, that didn’t stop my friends from lining up and braving the big drops from the top. Some even rode it more than once! When we showed up bright and early on Sunday morning, the line to get your fast pass was already around the block and into Cars Land and the wait time was 150 minutes. WOW! The guests were super excited to experience the newest ride.

About Guardians of the Galaxy: MISSION BREAKOUT!

Guests become the protagonists of a rockin’ new adventure in Disney California Adventure Park as they help rescue a cosmic gang of misfits in Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! This thrilling attraction is fueled with high-energy, hilarious action that will be fun for Super Hero fans and those who are discovering this story for the first time. It opens May 27, 2017. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! entices guests with an original storyline based on “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, comics and animated television series, with a rapid rise into chaotic adventure and surprising visuals. The fast-paced action rocks to the beat of music inspired by the films’ soundtracks, including classic rock and pop music from the ‘60s, ‘70s and early ‘80s. And with multiple ride profiles, guests never know which adventure they’ll get. “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! brings an all-new epic adventure to the Disneyland Resort, and it’s the only Disney park in the universe where guests can step into a Guardians of the Galaxy story,” said Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.  “Like the smash-hit films that inspired it, this new attraction is action-packed, full of irreverent humor, and features an ‘awesome mix tape.’  It’s a fantastic way for guests to experience the Super Hero universe like never before.” Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! opens just weeks after the theater premiere of the new film, “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2.” The stars of the films are featured in the attraction. Walt Disney Imagineering collaborated with James Gunn, director of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, most of the main talent from the films along with Joe Quesada, chief creative officer, Marvel Entertainment, and Marvel Themed Entertainment on the story of the attraction, to develop an experience where guests step into a story with these characters for the first time. “I can’t be more pleased to have partnered with Walt Disney Imagineering in bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy characters to this new, immersive form of storytelling,” Gunn said. “It’s been exciting and a lot of fun to help direct and shape the experience so that it has all the heart and fun and humor of the Guardians movies.” In addition to the new attraction, Summer of Heroes begins May 27 with Guardians of the Galaxy characters and Super Heroes appearing in Disney California Adventure for new exploits and Heroic Encounters. While some of these will be year-round, others will be available only from May 27-Sept. 10. Summer of Heroes inaugurates an ever-expanding universe of Super Hero stories at Disney California Adventure that will become even bigger over time.

Me? I wanted to experience all the food The Summer of Heroes had to offer, like the Groot bread and the super hero macarons. Check out all the pictures, of course you’ll still have to travel to Disney California Adventure Park to taste the treats. But, here I can share all the temptation without all the calories.

Super Heroes

While we were walking around, The Avengers vehicle with The Black Widow was driving down the street and I grabbed this quick video. We were standing in front of Guardians of the Galaxy: MISSION BREAKOUT and got to see this fun show with fan interaction. Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off has dancing, singing, and a boom box!

I even got this fun Groot cup to remember my trip (and make my kids happy)!

Summer of Heroes Food

Didn’t I say something about food earlier? Located at six different locations in the Hollywood Land area of the park, you’ll find food trucks and restaurants, including Schmoozies, Award Wieners and Market Place, featuring SUPER-HERO themed food. Dishes and drinks in super-hued colors of green, purple, red, blue, and orange reflect the personalities of some of our favorite Super Heroes. It was fun to search out all the goodness, but even more fun to try it all. Now, to be fair, I did not try them all. Between the 25 of us we tried a bit of everything and I’m going to share some of my favorites here. The one I still want to try is The Angry Little Pudding Cup featuring chocolate pudding with crumbled chocolate sandwich cookie, whipped cream and funnel cake fries. I know, sounds decadent. Sarah from SavoringtheGood.com made this video of some of the goodies available now. Check out the Obviously Nachos – so good! Say hi to your Groot bread, available in Cheddar-Jalepeno and Sourdough. This is the Cheddar Jalepeno flavor. Your Friendly Neighborhood Macaron looks delicious!

This one is the Gamma Sized Donut. How does one finish this by themselves? I’m thinking it’s family sized (or gives you enough fuel for the day).

Shopping for Super Heroes

Okay, so I pushed the two cups together for the picture, but aren’t Groot and Rocket cute? Maybe you’re a Spiderman fan? They have tons of merchandise no matter who you are a fan of. I walked around the stores forever looking for the perfect gifts to bring back home for my family. My newest, favorite hat! Now if I can just get my daughter to share it with me. 😉 Enjoy all of these items until September 10th, and while some will be a permanent fixture others will be leaving. There is so much to do and explore at Disney California Adventure that you could spend a whole day there and still not see it all. I know between Disneyland and California Disney Adventure I ran around for two full days and still didn’t catch everything. It’s exciting to explore new places and this Florida girl will definitely be going back to California to visit again. And get more Groot bread. *Thank you to Disney for inviting me to this media event. All opinions are my own.
