Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
It’s taken me a few minutes to grasp everything that happened in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. I know I will go see it multiple more times before I catch all the little details, but I can honestly say that I appreciated my first screening of this film.
I’ve heard multiple people say they didn’t care for it or that they were on the fence about the movie, but I enjoyed it from the first scent to the last. I liked the little moments that made this film unique and the memories that these scenes evoked.
As someone who didn’t start watching the Star Wars Saga until I was in my thirties, I may have a different perspective from those that saw it as a child, but my 11-year-old went with me to the screening and he couldn’t sit still he was so excited. He agrees with me on which moments meant the most and which ended up coming across as silly.
3-D or not?
Now, my husband and my 9-year-old daughter went to see the film in 3-D and they say that seeing in 3-D doesn’t add a lot to the visual experience, so take that as you will. My husband has been a life-long Star Wars fan, and he said that he loved the story, the memories, the characters, and how the character’s stories intersected and ultimately how The Rise of Skywalker ended. My daughter likes the fact that girls can be tough, too. That they can be strong like Leia and Rey.
Epic Battles
The battle scenes were intense and epic! Especially that last one. The worlds, the new droid, the new and the old characters – the entire story is fantastic. But, since I’m not giving any spoilers, that’s as much as you get.
For Kids?
As for if this movie is for kids or not? It’s most definitely a personal preference, but my kids (ages 9 and 11) have watched all the Star Wars movies and we took them to see this one. I think if they survived Rogue One (tears!) then they can handle anything. And we’ll take them to see The Rise of Skywalker again.
