I was provided $25 by our sponsor Ebates to purchase a backpack and school supplies. I was not compensated in any other way for this post. #givingbackpack #ebates

We still have a month and a half before school starts here in Florida, but I want to make sure that the local kids have everything they need to be successful in this upcoming school year. How to do that? Make sure that the teachers have what they need to teach our children and that they are able to help those children who may not have everything from their school supply list on the first day of school.
Ebates made it possible for me to pay it forward to someone else by providing me with $25 to use to buy a backpack and school supplies for a child. Since I’m not sure yet who is going to need supplies, I have decided to pay it forward to a teacher so that they can provide what is needed to a child without having to use their own funds. It’s not much, but every little bit helps.
I may have gone a little over budget. 😉 I ended up spending about $32 for everything you see above, including the backpack. Some of the items like the tissues and handi-wipes were in my stock-pile and I didn’t add those to my total.
The stores just stocked up on Back-to-School supplies, but I was able to get some great deals at Walmart and Target. $.50 for boxes of crayons and $.25 tissues! I grabbed a couple boxes of everything I thought they might need in the classroom, even some copy paper because we know how much paper the teachers go through. Not to mention the three bottles of hand sanitizer. That will come in handy.
What did I get for $32?
Walmart
- Backpack $3.97
- (3) boxes of Crayons $1.50 (sale)
- (2) 2 packs of Glue Sticks $1.00 (sale)
Total: $6.97 + tax
Target
- Filler paper $.99
Wooden Pencils (24) $1.99 - Expo Markers $2.99
- Erasers (4 pack) $.52
- Markers (10 pack) $1.25 (sale)
- Scissors $1.49 (price match)
- Pencil Sharpener $.93
- Rulers (2) $.62
- Pencil Box $.99
- Copy Paper $3.50
- Composition Books (2) $1.98
- Hand Sanitizer (3 bottles) $5.67
- Ziploc Sandwich baggies $2.99
Total: $25.97 + tax
Combined Total $32.88
I’m going tomorrow to drop the backpack off with a teacher at the local elementary school and I can’t wait to tell them how Ebates helped me pay it forward.
