Horizon® Products Making Lunches Easier For Our Family
Raise your hand if you have picky eaters. Yeah, I’m one of those raising their hands. I have one who eats everything and one that that is hard to please. This is their first year taking a packed lunch to school, so I wasn’t sure what was going to happen once school started. We’ve hit a few snags along the way, but there are compromises on both sides so that I feel good about what they’re eating when they’re at school.
Before the school year started, we sat down and came up with a list of foods that my children wanted in their lunchboxes. After looking at their list and adding a few choices of my own, we came up with a comprehensive approved lunch list that everyone agreed with.
Some of the items on our “Official Lunch List” are:
- Apples
- Cucumbers
- Peanut Butter & Honey Sandwiches
- Grapes
- Squeeze Fruits
- Horizon® Single-Serve Milk Boxes
- Chicken Nuggets
- Turkey, Ham, or Salami Sandwiches
- Raisins
- Apple Sauce
- Strawberries
- Pretzels
- Horizon® Sandwich Crackers
- Yogurt
- Cottage Cheese
- Cheese
Obviously, this is not the complete list, but it gives us a starting point. Finding a way to make lunch easier is a great way to make our mornings less hectic. Using the Horizon® products gives me one less thing that has to be prepared before putting in the lunchbox. It’s also another way the kids can be involved with packing their own lunchboxes. I find that the more they can be involved, the better the chance they’ll come home with an empty lunchbox. Always a win-win for everyone.
I went to Walmart to stock up before school started and found the Horizon® Single Serve Milk in 6-packs in Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry flavors. Since I had the kids with me, I let them choose their favorite flavors. My daughter went for the Vanilla, flavored with organic vanilla extract. My son went with Chocolate, flavored with organic vanilla extract. Both sounded good to me.
Then we went over to the snack aisle and found the Horizon® Sandwich Crackers in cheddar flavor, made with organic cheese. It’s also available in peanut butter, and those are like little bites of heaven. Okay, I may have tasted a few while packing lunches. We ended up with one of each so they could have variety in their lunch choices.
My daughter is happy with a sandwich, crackers, cottage cheese, fruit, and a drink. My son, on the other hand, usually wants warmed nuggets, squeeze fruit, crackers, and a drink. Although, that request changes day to day. With Horizon® milk on-the-go and Horizon® Sandwich Crackers in their lunch boxes, I know that they are getting something I approve of, with ingredients I can trust. The single-serve milk boxes contain 8 grams of protein per box and contain no high-fructose corn syrup.
Even when I fill their thermoses with juice for lunch, they have single-serve milk box with their after school snack. It is so convenient, especially since my son wants to drink the Chocolate flavor and my daughter would rather drink the Vanilla flavored milk. It makes my life so much easier by keeping everything convenient and easy for them to serve themselves.
Horizon® helps us make lunches easier by offering tasty options that even the pickiest eater will love.
The kids liked The Peanuts characters on the packaging and thought that was another great reason to pick up the Horizon® products. Did you notice our new Peanuts movie lunchbox in the video? Love it! Both kids are looking forward to the upcoming The Peanuts Movie coming to theaters on November 6, 2015. I cannot wait to take them to the theater because The Peanuts was something that I loved as a kid and I enjoy sharing things that I loved with them.

I think the cheddar crackers are delicious and my son likes the chocolate milk by Horizon. I am also thrilled that Peanuts is coming out with a new movie! 🙂 #client
