Babbel Language Learning
The Babbel learning system is based on a mix of methods that combines insights into language didacts research, such as communicative and cognitive approaches, with current learning trends.
The primary learning objective is to be able to handle real communication situations as quickly as possible. Therefore Babbel opts for learning content that reflects everyday life and is thus directly applicable. In line with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), Babbel offers extensive beginners and refresher courses in grammar and vocabulary, as well as numerous topic-based courses. All courses are divided into small learning units, which can be easily integrated into everyday life: Whether on the train or in the waiting room, learning with Babbel is possible anytime, anywhere.
My Review
Signing up for the Babbel learning system was very easy and I was able to start my lessons right away. We chose to learn Spanish, but there are many languages available for lessons. I’ll be honest, it has been a long time since I took high school Spanish and I don’t remember all that much. I teach both of my preschoolers at home and I’d like to be able to help them learn a little Spanish. The Babbel learning system is going to help me do just that.
I’ve set up time every day this week to try the program and get started with learning a new language. After spending a few minutes each day doing a different lesson, the kids (and I) have picked up some of the basics. The kids are enjoying learning a new language and they don’t really realize it is actually learning.
The “lessons” are set up so that you see the words in both English and Spanish and also hear the word in Spanish. Then you match the word to the picture and type the words in a sentence. It is actually a very easy process and the repetition of the words throughout each lesson helps both me and the children retain the information.
Once we go through all the Spanish lessons, I wonder what language we should learn next.
