Brevard Zoo

While we were on vacation in Cocoa Beach just the other week, we decided to spend one morning at the Brevard Zoo. It was only about 30 minutes from where we were spending the week and well worth the travel time. I visited the Brevard Zoo a few years ago for the kayak adventure, but this time I took the whole family to see the animals. From giraffes to rhinos and deer to alligators, the Brevard Zoo provides an exciting adventure for the family.

My kids were especially taken with the birds because they got to experience feeding them! We purchased two seed sticks and went inside the bird enclosure, gave each child a seed stick and just watched. They laughed, they smiled, and they made friends with the birds. What a beautiful moment for my kids. My daughter still talks about the birds and how she smiled at them and they smiled back. At six years old, she loves animals, but can get skittish around them. With her seed stick in hand she was able to feed them and actually watch as one sat on her finger. That’s a moment she won’t soon forget.

Check out some of our favorite pictures from our morning at the zoo.

The touch pool was another memorable experience for the kids because they actually got to touch some of the animals. My daughter didn’t enjoy this one as much as my son. She’d rather look at them and let her brother touch the animals. Either way, they enjoyed walking the zoo and seeing all the different animals. There were so many laughs and smiles that I can say we’ll definitely go back the next time we’re in Melbourne.
