Celebrating Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom with a visit to the L.A. Zoo
While in L.A. to screen Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom and MARVEL’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, we had the chance to spend a few hours at the L.A. Zoo. We received a private, VIP tour of the Zoo including a visit to see some singing Siamangs!

L.A. Zoo
The L.A. Zoo is enormous and without our guides and the caravan of carts, it would have taken us a lot longer to tour the grounds. We were able to watch a variety of monkeys and apes, including the Kikiyu Colobus Monkey, with it’s long white tail, to the endangered Siamang apes with their loud voices that stretch across the zoo. There were so many interesting facts and tidbits that the keepers were able to share with us. Such as, with the Siamangs, the keeper cannot talk near them or the Siamangs will begin to become louder and louder. It was better for her to take us away from the apes before starting to talk with us.
It was so interesting to visit the zoo after watching Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom because there was so much that I learned during the screening and it gives you a different appreciation of the animals while you’re visiting the zoo. One thing I didn’t realize is that there is a heiarchy when it comes to the monkey troops. Did you know that? Well, you’ll find out more when you go see Monkey Kingdom on Friday, April 17th. I’ve already seen it twice, and my kids have seen it once. I’ll have my review posted on Friday, but I’ll let you know that my kids (ages 5 and 6) give it ten thumbs up (just go with it!). It’s rated G and perfect for the whole family.

Further activities in Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Indonesia will include researching, rescuing and rehabilitating monkeys, patrolling protected areas which serve as important habitats for monkeys and other species, planting trees and supporting community education and forest-friendly jobs.

Was definitely fun seeing all the Monkeys at the zoo!
There was a ton of information. I was so glad to go and participate in this event. Glad that you also had a nice time.
