Oz the Great and Powerful
Earlier this week, I got the chance to see Oz the Great and Powerful. The new movie stars James Franco as Oscar Diggs, Mila Kunis as Theodora, Rachel Weisz as Evanora and Michelle Williams as Glinda.
It’s the story of how Oscar comes to Oz and how he becomes the Wizard. The story is well written, with lots of twists and turns along the way. I enjoyed James Franco as Oscar, he is quite charming and tends to grow on you throughout the movie. The Witches are great, all of them have their strong suits. I especially liked Michelle Williams as Glinda, I think she did a great job portraying the good witch. Mila Kunis shows both good and evil sides in the movie and she can be scary!
I think my favorite characters were the “China Girl” (Joey King) and “Finley” (Zach Braff). China Girl was just so sweet and soft spoken and Finley added the comic relief.
The special effects were great, and the 3D made it that more real. From the falling snow to the twister, the special effects were well done. This is a good date night or Sunday afternoon movie and I recommend that you go see it.
The official snippet from Walt Disney Studios.
Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.
