It’s been more than six months, yet I still can’t believe it. My nephew Jake was killed last year and today would have been his 5th birthday.
Jake’s biological father has been indicted and his wife is also in jail. My sister is heartbroken, and today of all days must be very hard on her. This is the first birthday since Jake’s death.
Jake’s death was a horrible tragedy caused by child abuse. It never should have happened and it never should happen to any child. Jake was the sweetest, quietest child I have ever known. They say time heals all wounds, but I’m not sure this is something you can ever recover from.
Sending my love and prayers to my sister today and every day. Keeping my thoughts with all families that have lost a child to abuse.

RIP Jake. All things are better in somewhere out there …
What a horrible thing for a family to deal with. One of my best friends lost a granddaughter to child abuse. (The biological Mothers boyfriend) Praying for whatever peace your sister can find in her life after such a tragedy.
Thank you for your kind words, Jill.
