If you’ve seen my Homemade Sugar Cookie Recipe, the chocolate dipped sugar cookies use that recipe as a base cookie.
From there, it is very easy to make a simple sugar cookie something spectacular. Use milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or even white chocolate. For this recipe I used 1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips that were left over from my last batch of chocolate chip cookies.
I took the 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and put them in a microwavable bowl and microwaved in 15 second increments. In between each increment, I stirred the chocolate. I continued this process until the chocolate was smooth. It ended up being 45 seconds total in the microwave.
Then take your sugar cookies and dip them in the melted chocolate. I only dipped one half of my cookie, but feel free to dip the whole cookie. It’s just a personal preference. Once dipped, I then dipped the cookie into a bowl of sprinkles. My kids got to choose which sprinkles they wanted for each cookie. You can also change the sprinkles based on your theme or holiday.
It takes a bit for the chocolate to harden on the cookie, if left on the counter. If the cookies are cooled before you dip them, go ahead and throw them in the refrigerator to harden the chocolate easily. These cookies last 2 weeks in a sealed container. Although, mine didn’t survive the night with my giggly monsters. 😉 Enjoy!
