I suffer from horrible migraines. Unfortunately, they are a side effect of another medication I take. It seems to be the only medication that works on my symptoms so I have to continue to take it on a weekly basis. Which means, weekly migraines. This week has been worse than usual though, since I’m on day 3 of this migraine.
I’ve had a few friends give me some recommendations to help alleviate some of the pain. Seeking a specialist is probably the best idea I’ve gotten (thanks, Michelle). Next best, is this Smoothie that is supposed to help with the migraine (Thanks, Devon). I only received a picture with a recipe on it, no actual post. I did some research though, and found a few versions of this Migraine Smoothie. I’m starting with the simplest recipe, then I’ll make some changes or additions the next time I make it.
Here’s the basic recipe I’ve been making for the last two days.
- 1/2 cup crushed pineapple
- 1 celery stalk
- 1/2 cucumber, peeled
- 3-4 kale leaves, torn
- 1/4 lemon, squeezed for juice
Blend all ingredients in blender until smoothie consistency.
I will tell you that this is not for the faint of heart. You must like all the ingredients to enjoy this smoothie. 😉 I actually like it, but my hubby won’t get anywhere near me while I’m drinking it. I did find a few recipes that included coconut water and I’m thinking of trying that with the next smoothie I make.
I’m going to continue drinking these for a few days and see if it helps the migraine or not. It’s definitely worth a try and includes ingredients that are good for me. Here’s to getting rid of this migraine.

How has this been working? I have been getting them a lot more lately and I would love something to help!
This sounds interesting, I’ll have to get the Mr. to try it as he’s been having more headaches lately from new medications as well.
Let me know how it works out for him, Michelle.
Sounds interesting. But if it works for migraines I will try it!
It took a couple of the smoothies, but my migraine did start to get a bit better. I hope it works for you, Pam!
