Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa #WGLakesWeekend
This past weekend, my family and I took a mini-vacation in Orlando, Florida. We had the pleasure of staying at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa, just minutes down the street from the theme parks. With eight pools, paddle boats, mini-golf, and restaurants all located on the property there really isn’t much of a reason to leave the resort. There are even shuttles that come by every 15-20 minutes to take you where ever you want to go on property. We used the shuttle to take us to dinner and also to take us to some of the activities for the kids.
Check in was super easy and we had our own personal concierge take us to our room on the golf cart. It was the kids’ first time on a golf card and their expressions were priceless.
Once in our room, it took a few minutes to take it all in. In one word. Luxury. It was gorgeous and the kids were so excited to have such tall beds. đ Did I mention the view. Absolutely stunning to wake up to every morning.
The brilliantly adorned and spacious two-bedroom, two-bath villa at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa offers remarkable spaciousness, creating the perfect backdrop for your visit. These villas feature a king bed in the master bedroom, two double beds in the second bedroom, a queen sleeper sofa in the living area, fully equipped kitchen, large-screen TV with DVD player, balcony or patio, full bath with jetted tub and washer/dryer.
Speaking of breakfast. There was breakfast served in the restaurant every morning, a Starbucks in the lobby of the resort, and a grocery on property if you wanted to make your own breakfast. I did a bit of everything. Having coffee and cinnamon roll from Starbucks one morning, and making a big breakfast one morning with groceries purchased at the market. Oh, and that cinnamon roll? There was enough for my family of four. I shared the cinnamon roll, but not my coffee.
What did we do on our mini vacation? LOTS! There were so many fun activities to choose from and we had a hard time narrowing it down. What did we decide to do? My husband and I walked over to the Miniature Golf Course, got a few putters and balls, then proceeded to walk the kids through their very first putt-putt game. With a pirate theme and pirate facts at every hole, the kids were enthusiastic during our adventure. The kids did great for their first time, even though they may have been playing by their own rules.
Also on the agenda was a Paddle Boat Ride. My son and my husband took the paddle boat out on the lake and had a great time. They took it out for the one hour rental and were able to see the beautiful scenery while they were out in the middle of the lake. My son still hasn’t stopped talking about how much fun it was going out on the lake and how much fun they had.
I have to say that the one activity that we chose for the kids to participate in that they absolutely adored was the Stuff-n-Fluff Workshop. They had so much fun stuffing their own stuffed animals, plus they got to keep the stuffed animal. The activities staff was very helpful throughout the process. Plus, the same activity person was there to help with all three of our different activities that day! So, she remembered us and was great with the kids.
So much fun to be had for the kids and the adults! I had the chance to walk through the Spa and I’m definitely going back to treat myself to a hot rock massage. Now, we should talk about food! There are few different options to choose from when you get hungry at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa. Choose from Westgate Smokehouse Grill, Sid’s Bistro, Cordovano Joe’s Authentic New York Style Pizza, or one of the Pool Bars. You get the idea. Lots of food while you’re relaxing!
The first night we were there, we chose to take the family to the Westgate Smokehouse Grill. Oh, it was so good. But, rather than tell you how delicious everything was I want to show you some very mouthwatering pictures. Enjoy!
I think my favorite was the nachos made with tater tots. OH MY!! So good. đ
The next day we ordered pizza from Cordovano Joe’s Authentic New York Style Pizza and had it delivered to the room. It only took about 30 minutes for it to be delivered and it was really good. The sausage on the pizza actually looked like meatballs because they were so large! Take a look.
We had an amazing weekend at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa. From the view of the lake from our balcony to the relaxing spa there was so much to do. The kids never once said ‘I’m bored’ and that in and of itself is a miracle. We had the chance to visit Sea World and Downtown Disney during our trip, and each location was only minutes away from the resort. You feel like you are in the middle of an oasis, but in actuality you are in the middle of Orlando. It was truly a relaxing few days and I cannot wait to go back with the family.
Oh! Almost forgot to mention that two of my son’s stuffed animals went missing, but some very nice Westgate employees made sure they were returned to us. The stuffed animals were delivered back to our house with a new friend. Read about the full experience.
